Jean-Pierre Joncas has earned the title of Stelliers Asia 2026 General Manager – Hotelier of the Year, honouring his leadership at Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort. He received the accolade at the Stelliers Asia 2026 Grand Awards in Bangkok.
His career spans an unconventional path, from psychology studies and firefighting to over 20 years in hospitality. Across 15 hotels in nine countries, he has worked with Park Hyatt, Fairmont, Raffles and Sofitel.
At Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua, Jean-Pierre has focused on trust, empowerment and genuine human connection. He empowers his teams to exchange ideas, take initiative and develop their skills. Meanwhile, he champions projects that strengthen the resort’s ties with Bali and its local communities
His leadership also extends to social impact. In 2025, the resort’s charity gala raised IDR 500 million for Bali Life Foundation, supporting a school in Sumba, with construction breaking ground in 2026. For Jean-Pierre, the recognition reflects a shared journey built around people, teamwork and creating meaningful experiences.
