Beneath Bali’s eternal golden skies, some of the island’s most influential hospitality names are teeing up for something truly meaningful. This year, the Marriott Business Council Bali elevates its annual Golf Day far beyond the fairways. In an exclusive conversation with HighEndTraveller.com, the powerful figures behind the event open up about purpose, generosity, and legacy.
Saraswati Subadia, Chairwoman of the event and General Manager of The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud, speaks with quiet conviction. Beside her, Co-Chair I Wayan Raksa reflects on what it means to give back to the island they call home. Joining them is Tanitha Bimoadji of Codigo 1530 Indonesia, the event’s proud main sponsor, bringing heart to the brand world. And at the centre of it all, Margaret Barry, the woman who built the Bali Children Foundation from the ground up, sits with graceful purpose. Together, they remind us that true luxury has always been about more than indulgence. It is about impact, intention, and the lives quietly transformed behind the scenes.
Saraswati Subadia
Chairwoman, Annual Marriott International Bali Charity Golf Day 2026
General Manager, The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud
As Chairwoman of this year’s event, what makes the combination of a golf competition and hotel-voucher auction such an effective fundraising format, and what’s your hope for how the proceeds will impact the children supported by Bali Children Foundation?
Golf has always brought people together, and this event takes that spirit even further. Beyond 18 holes, guests connect, share stories, and create meaningful moments, all while supporting a greater cause.
The combination of the golf tournament and the hotel experience auction gives everyone a chance to contribute. Every bid and every donation helps Bali Children Foundation expand access to education, from school supplies and books to opportunities that can shape a child’s future.
For us, this reflects Marriott International’s ‘Nurturing Our World’ commitment. Hospitality isn’t only about welcoming guests; it’s about bringing people together to create lasting impact. We hope today’s generosity reminds every child that their community believes in their potential, and that together, we can help build brighter futures.

I Wayan Raksa
Co-Chair of Marriott Business Council Bali
General Manager, Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa
From the Marriott Business Council’s perspective, why was Bali Children Foundation chosen as this year’s beneficiary, and how does an initiative like this reflect Marriott’s broader commitment to giving back to the local Bali community?
For Marriott Business Council Bali, continuing our partnership with the Bali Children Foundation was an easy decision. Over the years, we’ve seen firsthand how education creates lasting change, not only for children, but also for families and communities across Bali and beyond.
That’s why this initiative means so much to us. Together, more than 30 Marriott hotels and resorts across Bali, Lombok, and Labuan Bajo are helping expand opportunities through education, in line with Marriott International’s “Nurture Our World” commitment.
Ultimately, this is about more than fundraising. It’s about uniting businesses, partners, and communities around a shared purpose. When we come together, our collective impact reaches far beyond what any one of us could achieve alone, and that’s exactly what “Play with Purpose” represents.
Tanitha Bimoadji
Brand Specialist, Codigo 1530 Indonesia
What motivated Codigo 1530 Indonesia to come on board as the main sponsor for this year’s Marriott Golf Day, and how does this partnership align with your brand’s values?
We’ve built a strong relationship with Marriott over the years, so supporting the Marriott Golf Tournament felt like a natural extension of that partnership. More importantly, it reflects the values we share, bringing people together, celebrating life, and creating meaningful impact.
For us, this event goes beyond sponsorship. It’s an opportunity to support the community, strengthen partnerships, and contribute to a cause that can make a real difference. That’s exactly what Codigo 1530 stands for.
Beyond the financial contribution, how do you see Codigo 1530’s involvement helping to raise awareness for Bali Children Foundation’s cause, both within the golf community and beyond?
What makes this event so meaningful is its ability to bring people together around a shared purpose. Beyond the tournament, it opens conversations, raises awareness of the Bali Children Foundation, and encourages more people to get involved.
Whether through a donation, a partnership, or future collaboration, every contribution helps us create greater opportunities for children across Bali.
Margaret Barry
Founder, Bali Children Foundation
Every donation raised through the Marriott International Bali Charity Golf Day will directly support the Bali Children Foundation. What tangible impact will this year’s fundraising have on the children and communities you serve, and what message would you like participants to take away from being part of this initiative?
Every donation raised through the Marriott International Bali Charity Golf Day and Gala Dinner is an investment in opportunity. This year’s fundraising will help us expand into North and West Lombok, Flores, starting with three elementary schools, while strengthening our Youth Empowerment Programs in Bali through Future Female Leaders.
In addition, we’ll support inclusive education for children with disabilities in North Bali and expand our Education Technology program in Lombok, giving more children access to quality learning and stronger literacy and numeracy skills.
To everyone joining us today, thank you. You’re doing far more than enjoying a day of golf, you are helping children gain the education and opportunities they deserve. Together, we’re proving that when businesses, communities, and individuals unite around a shared purpose, we can create lasting change for generations to come.
